Anchorpoint Warriors play hard but lose to Trinity Christian
The 1st place Trinity Christian Warriors (6-0) used a 23-1 first quarter to secure a win against host Anchorpoint Christian Warriors (0-6). Anchorpoint had several first quarter turnovers allowing Trinity to extend their lead and were unable to close the gap. The opportunities were there but it just wasn’t the night for an upset as Anchorpoint shot 15% from the field and only 17% from behind the line.
Junior Will Long battled on the boards and hauled in a team-high 10 rebounds.
Warriors fall short to 1st place Trinity Christian
The Anchorpoint Warriors traveled to Salinas for a showdown with rival Trinity Christian and fell short of a major upset. Trinity Christian came into the game in 1st place with a perfect MTAL record of 4-0 while Anchorpoint entered in last place with an 0-4 record. After the 1st quarter the Warriors showed that they were ready to play however several turnovers allowed Trinity Christian to close out the 1st quarter with a 19-9 lead. Both teams played a strong second quarter and the Warriors rallied behind Junior Kelon Jacobs in an effort to close the gap. Jacobs led all scorers with 27 points scoring 13 of those points in the 2nd quarter.
With the Anchorpoint Warriors limited to only five players Trinity Christian used their depth to wear out the Warriors and pushed their lead to 52-35 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Anchorpoint will host Trinity on Friday, 1/25, for another MTAL rival basketball game. TipOff is scheduled for 6:30PM.

Warriors dominate 1st half but lose MTAL opener
The Warriors let one slip away as Anzar battled back from an 11 point halftime deficit to win the MTAL-Coastal Division opener. Anzar used high intensity defensive pressure to force the Warriors into several turnovers and poor shot selection. The game was played at such a high speed that there were several moments where both teams struggled to be effective on the offensive end. Anzar took full advantage of two key players fouling out forcing the Warriors to play 4 vs 5 for almost the entire fourth quarter.

The Warriors traveled north to face off with the Gryphons of Crystal Springs Upland and returned home with a tough loss, 60-26. The Gryphons came out strong and were paced by senior guard, Anthony Shao, who scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the 1st quarter. Junior Kelon Jacobs paced the Warriors scoring attack with a team-high of 16 points. “There were some positives from today’s game however I think we realized we have a lot of work to do especially on the defensive side of the game.We’ll learn from this and it will help us as we head into MTAL-Coastal Division play.” Coach Estorga

The Anchorpoint Christian Warriors Boys Basketball team is gearing up for it’s 1st game of the year against Crystal Springs Upland. The Warriors have been working hard and preparing for MTAL-Coastal Division league play. Juniors Ben Viramontes and Jacob Banales have shown great steps in development and will lead the Warriors into battle on Saturday. Forwards Will Long and Seth Berry will be called upon to control the boards. Guards Noah Vasquez and Kelon Jacobs will seek to keep the Warriors on the attack while controlling the opponents guard play.
